The lone crusader...

Putting one foot ahead of the other...
Down the roads at the knell of the evening...
As the wayside fields lie basking...
In golden drops of the setting sun...
Walks on, the lone crusader...

Fighting demons in his mind...
Wishing worries would just disappear...
As these dark clouds gather...
Walks on, the lone crusader...

Trying to immerse himself in nature...
But it just doesn't seem to sink in....
The coldness just wont go away...

He watches as the birds fly high...
How he wishes he could be free like them...
"Man is born free, but..." he thinks...

The lone tree in the middle of the road beckons...
His thoughts invite him to be with its branches...
A shade to the traveler...
But easily and thanklessly forgotten...
To the ebbs and tide of 'Development'...
'Move on', says them who matter...
But how can it move on?
The wrenching pain still sears through the soul...
When was the last time someone who 'matter', cared?

Yet when the soothing breeze caresses him, he knows...
The world is still just a stage...
The actors cannot touch his inner heart...
He will not give up, he cannot give up...
So walks on, the lone crusader...

He sees the distant rainbow...
The bow of colors that enchant and rejuvenate...
So distinctly different, yet so thick...
Like the multitudes of life's problems and opportunities...
So a merry tune his lips hum...
And muses to himself... "What's life without a lil' worry?"
So walks on, the lone crusader...
