Troubled times

Quaint is the idea...
That restraint is a skill...
But faint is the emotion...
For lost hope and will...

Why should there be protocols,
For two hearts to chat?
What should there be calls,
For two faces to interact?

When the hearts are missing,
How friends be one?
When one misses that heart,
How can one be a friend?

There is always a place where the sidewalk ends...
And from there road begins...
There is always a point where the facade ends...
And from there life begins...

I take a moment and close my eyes...
To look out, see darkness and feel the silence...
Scared, I look inside and feel my heart...
Hope renewed, I join its rhythm that calms...

Farewell, not Goodbye...

We're done with College, this we know...
We're going out into the world, this we know too...

Our hopes and dreams to pursue,
We go on our separate ways...

On the highways of Life...
Which run long and far...

But the friends we made here for life,
The beautiful moments we enjoyed here...

Those bonds that hold us together...
We hope will one day bring us back...

So it is not 'Goodbye', but only 'Farewell'...
Till that time when we meet again, my friends...

Thoughts during my last exam @ SDM

Exams, thou art a mystery...
For Teachers, thou be a pain up the tree...
And Students wish thou be history...
Then who loves thee, ooh dreary blistery...?

From 'The Winds of Fate'

Beautiful lines... well thought and even better written...:)

"One ship drives east and another drives west
With the selfsame winds that blow.
'Tis the set of the sails,
And Not the gales,
That tell us the way to go.
Like the winds of the sea are the ways of fate;
As we voyage along through life,
'Tis the set of a soul
That decides its goal,
And not the calm or the strife..."

Christmas thoughts... I'll be home...

I look to December nights for the greens, the reds and the whites...
For on such a starry night long ago...
Did angels sing.., "Peace on earth and Goodwill to mankind"...

When rings those Christmas jingles...
Along doth my skin tingle...
As hearts fill with the cheer in the air...

At home the air is with warmth...
Ringing softly with the carols and bells...
Aroma of the cakes and the dinner intoxicates...

With that special tree lit up with a thousand fireflies...
Merrily twinkling on the star perched on top...
So goes my Christmas dream...

But that's not all, its the love that finally matters...
That calls everyone home on Christmas...
And that's why I'll be home this Christmas...

Merry Christmas...!!

Christmas thoughts... The heart of joy that is Christmas...

When I am here, at the beginning of yet another Christmas season,
I hear those familiar carols and bells...
And stories run across my mind...
Of Peace on earth and good will to mankind...
Of the love that symbolizes the Season...
Takes me back to my childhood days and to my quiet home...

No delusions on what Christmas means...
Its the dearness for the past...
Being happy for the present...
And everlasting hope for the future...

Its about the joy...
Of helping with someone's loads in life...
Of bringing that smile on every face...
Of conspiring to fill every heart with all that is lovely on this world...

From home to home and heart to heart...
To see the warmth and joy of Christmas spread...

With the glad tidings and blissful traditions...
As I stand here on this cold day in December...
Christmas is always young...!!!

Merry Christmas...

A happy life...

A happy life this be...
If for fruitful ground and a peaceful mind,
Truthful friends and simple thoughts...
If I can trust myself...
When everyone else doubts...
If I can chat...
with Triumph an Disaster on the way...
And know that both are imposters...
If I can savor the simple offerings...
A waft of bread in the oven...
Or from flowers, some honey sweet...
Or rain drops cold on my skin...
Or the lazy dreams at the break of the morn...
If I feel my home calling to me everyday...
And if I can count my blessings before I sleep...

Christmas thoughts...

Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful."

The lone crusader...

Putting one foot ahead of the other...
Down the roads at the knell of the evening...
As the wayside fields lie basking...
In golden drops of the setting sun...
Walks on, the lone crusader...

Fighting demons in his mind...
Wishing worries would just disappear...
As these dark clouds gather...
Walks on, the lone crusader...

Trying to immerse himself in nature...
But it just doesn't seem to sink in....
The coldness just wont go away...

He watches as the birds fly high...
How he wishes he could be free like them...
"Man is born free, but..." he thinks...

The lone tree in the middle of the road beckons...
His thoughts invite him to be with its branches...
A shade to the traveler...
But easily and thanklessly forgotten...
To the ebbs and tide of 'Development'...
'Move on', says them who matter...
But how can it move on?
The wrenching pain still sears through the soul...
When was the last time someone who 'matter', cared?

Yet when the soothing breeze caresses him, he knows...
The world is still just a stage...
The actors cannot touch his inner heart...
He will not give up, he cannot give up...
So walks on, the lone crusader...

He sees the distant rainbow...
The bow of colors that enchant and rejuvenate...
So distinctly different, yet so thick...
Like the multitudes of life's problems and opportunities...
So a merry tune his lips hum...
And muses to himself... "What's life without a lil' worry?"
So walks on, the lone crusader...

Christmas thoughts... The season of joy...

All is calm, All is bright...
A chill in the wind, peace in all hearts...

All of the men in all of the nights...
Warming their minds with memories bright...

Of all the happy and merry times...
Of all the cheerful and blissful chimes...

Its the Season of cheer and I live by these rhymes...
The Grace of Christmas bewitching these climes...

As the silver moonbeams softly caress...
As the children softly sing carols..

Unfolds the magic of the joyous season...
The season of love, the season of care...

There's magic in the eyes of the children...
Listening for the hooves of Rudolph the deer...

There's bliss in the souls of the elders...
Drinking in the cheer so abundant around...

In the reds and the greens and the candles bright...
In the aroma of the freshly laid table...

The bells, the lights, the stars, the holly...
And the Angels on decorated pine trees, green...

Warmth to man, gives the roaring fire...
Warmth to the heart, gives the Christmas tune...

To gather at home around that Christmas tree, bright...
With the precious family and the special ones near...

Its then we realize that its not 'bout the season...
But 'bout all of the goodness and love in our heart...

For all the peace, love and cheer it spreads...
Only but once a year comes Christmas calling...

May your Christmas be very merry and bright...
Seasons greetings...

Christmas thoughts...

"Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree, with faithful leaves unchanging...
Your boughs are green, in summers glow and do not fade in winters snow..
Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree, with faithful leaves unchanging
....
Each year you bring to me delight, meaning in the Christmas night...
Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree, of all the trees most lovely..."

From the carol 'Oh Christmas Tree..', written by an unknown German, immortalizing the otherwise unheralded evergreen. Never fails to kindle that warmth in my heart, how many ever times I listen to it. The perfect message for Christmas...

Dreams...

Aah dreams...
What art thou made of?

Beautiful and bright,
Like the moon at night...

Magnificent, thou come when I sleep...
Elusive, thou be to catch...

Thou art so simple...
Yet so complicated...

But I don't want to figure thou through...
Coz the pleasures of life...
Are better enjoyed than thought of...

Yet, when I wake up...
I know in crimson and grey...

That though just a dream,
Thou keepeth my hopes...

Aloft and alight, to tread the new day...
Happy and blissful to enjoy everyday...

Happiness...

The best and the most beautiful things in this world cannot be seen or heard... but must be felt deep inside... Pity that we forget this often... and complain about being unhappy...

Exams...!!!!

Principle of selective depravity put to work...
Those unfortunate souls, to pretend to know...

To portray the disarrayed thoughts...
Of unstable minds and frayed nerves...

So happens the vintage ritual...
So fondly called Exams...

Where students pretend to write...
Where students pretend to 'know'...

Random questions that never helps knowledge...
Trials to irritate, never to educate...

Traps all imagination...
Cramps all expectations...

Declaring war on all that's good...
That makes education worth its while...

After all its just a grade and a mark...
Which speak for none that matter...

Ooh Mother Earth, what has Man done to you?

Amidst the generous expanse of green grass...
Stands a large white flower...
Fluttering in the breeze...

Hopes a'high I walk over...
Alas, twas a plastic bag catching the wind...

Deep among the trees flows a rippling brook...
Sparkles and glitters like a thousand stars...

Hopes a'high I walk over...
Alas, they're hundreds of candy wrappers...

Smoke fills the skies once blue...
Honks fill the countrysides once quiet...
Chemicals destroy the water once pure...

Icebergs melting...
Lands laid bare...
Seas with oil slicks..

Ooh Mother Earth, what has Man done to you?

Once a beautiful planet of green and blue...
Serene lands and beautiful seas...
Mesmerizing flowers and enchanting birds...
Skies of turquoise for the day...
And glassy black fro the night...
Home to creatures small and big...

Ooh Mother Earth, what has Man done to you?

The night sky...

Looking above in the dead of the night...
A brilliantly starry sky awaits the gaze...

Specks of sparkling dust spewn across the eye...
That are those mighty constellations afar...

Been there for a billion years watching us...
Appearing to us only in the pale moonlight...

A twinkle there, a twinkle here...
And a sense of peace with night breeze near..

Night rain...

Its calm into the deep dark night...
Its cool outside with a pleasant breeze...
And then it starts with a distant patter...

Falling from heaven those crystal beads...
Like a thousand tiny fireflies they fall...
In the light from lamp posts tall..

Into the reveries plunging deep...
Soothing the head and the heart...
The rain falls soft, silent and still...

Leaving behind in its peaceful wake...
Everything fresh for the new day...
The rain falls soft, silent and still...

Good Morning to you...

Through the dapples of the thinning night...
The crimson of the early dawn shines through...

The skies freshen up with elegant stealth...
Birds fly singing beneath the endless blue sky...

Away, are the misty hills...
Behold, are the budding flowers...

A deep sigh of a passing breeze...
Pure dew on aside leaves, green...

There is not a person on the street...
Calm stay these pleasures, sweet...

Down the tarry street standeth a tree tall...
On its branches, birds with bright wings beating...

Gathering the freshness of the world around,
The crisp morning overwhelms in silence...

One cant but feel the hope and pleasure...
Of the new day that dawns everyday...

It weighs tenderly hard on my heart...
That night moves over for the day...

Without a fuss, without a groan...
So soft, yet so firm...

(Cross)Roads of life

Standing alone in the silent rain...
Looking on as lightning flashes...
Peering deep through the clouds inside...

Seeking not shelter nor warmth...
A pungent dread, a nameless fear...
Of the unknown, of tomorrow...

To turn left or to turn right?
Frozen on the crossroads of life...
Looms indecision as adventure fights comfort...

Haven't we found ourselves at this junction?
How many times have we had to choose?
But aint that the beauty of this journey we tread?

That its we who create our own destiny...
Seeking but those jewels of happiness...
Staring down the road less traveled...

I have a dream...

There's a land in my dreams...
My dreams that fly off...
Without waiting for me...
Without taking me there...

There where the sky does meet...
With the beautiful sea...

Where the songs are sung...
With melody ringing...

Carpets of flowers while the brook flows by...
Green lanes as the golden Sun passes by...

Vague but tantalizing...
Silent but calling...

There lives my pretty dream...
That I may never reach...

But leaves me with a tease...
Of where I can hope to find peace...
